Concept Naming & Contemporary Identity Translation
PLAKAKI Café Bistrot
— Brand Identity
Plakaki is a site-specific brand developed in the historic neighborhood of Plaka, Athens.
The name plays on the double meaning of Plaka and plakaki — the Greek word for ceramic tile, a defining element of neoclassical Athenian architecture.
This traditional reference is deliberately reinterpreted through a Bauhaus-influenced, minimal industrial aesthetic. The logo typography is structured as a vertical sequence of tile-like units, abstracting ornamental floors into a functional, modular system.
The identity shifts from decorative heritage to contemporary clarity, translating local architectural memory into a restrained, urban visual language suited to a modern café–bistrot environment.
